101 Lies Taught In Church Every Sunday - Lie #40 We Need A Revival

As someone who used to talk about revival, pray for revival and study and read about revivals, I think Steve McVey does a great job exposing the lie about the need for revival in the church. While revivals may be exciting while they last, why settle for less when Father has so much more he wants to give us?

Aida,

When I hear the word 'revival' now a days I get a funny feeling. I am so very familiar with that concept. I have seen people fasting and doing prayer chains for revival in churches. I am familiar with revival speakers! At some point I was so excited about the 'Pensacola Revival' etc. It was crazy!!!
I am glad I am out of it.
What we need is not 'revival' but TRUTH. Revival cannot set us free, it is the truth what sets us free.

Bino, I love this. Revivals are exciting but they don't last. The same people who were revived can a short time later fall away.

I used to be caught up in revival too. I read everything I could get my hands on about it. I was so thrilled whenever I was at a meeting that was filled with a lot of excitement. Of course, it never lasted since it wasn't birthed out of relationship. Then, I had to go to the next meeting to get another fix.

Like you, I'm so glad those days are over for me. Now, all I want is to know Him and to experience more of His indwelling life. That's something that will last for all eternity and never fade away.
