Everything I Do, I Do It For You - Bryan Adams

I've heard it proclaimed from various pulpits, "It's not about you!" That sounds so very humble but it's always bothered me. It was about us. Jesus didn't need to die for himself. He did it for us. That's the gospel. He loved us so much that he died so that the separation between God and man could be removed. Everything he did, he did for us.

Thanks, Rob. That statement has irked me for years and I feel it needs to be exposed for what it is . . . a lie.

Aida, funny I should see this here now, I looked it up on Youtube a few days ago. I LOVED Bryan Adams' music in high school and every now and then, the 80's nostalgia will hit me LOL.

Immediately after I posted A Safe Place to Heal, this song came to mind. I hadn't heard or thought of it in years. I like the Robin Hood version but I didn't even remember that Kevin Costner played Robin Hood. I told my husband that I can't picture Kevin Costner in that part but it did make me want to see the movie again.

I am right there with ya. Another song that bothers me is, more of him and less of me, while there seems to be truth in that, God chooses to partner with us, He wants us!!! As we are! Anyway, I had forgotten how much I used to love Bryan Adams, especially this song!

And by the way, I was so happy to see you picture is now up on your blog. It is always so good to put a face with a person, ha! And you so remind me of a loving warm children's storybook character!!!!

Much grace to you Aida!

You are so right, Lydia. When I go Sunday mornings, there are some songs that I just can't sing or I have to change the words. We'll sing any old thing and not question whether it's true or not. Of course, I used to do the same thing.

I love that Bryan Adams song too. I hadn't realized how much it speaks of Christ's battle to free us from sin so that we can now be free to become his wife.

It took me a while to get that picture up but I knew I had to do it. It's so much easier to relate to a person when you see a face. Thanks for the compliment. You had me laughing and wondering who that storybook character might be.

Ditto to everything that's been said! I could just never get behind "it's not about us"...I would always think, that's exactly what's it's all about..us....we are the objects of His love. Glad to see your beautiful face Aida...karen

Karen, I appreciate your comments. I've missed hearing from you.

You are so right! We are definitely the objects of his love and he wants us to know that.

Thanks for your kind words.
