Excerpts from Recover Your Good Heart

I finally got my copy of Recover Your Good Heart this week and I've been enjoying what Jim Robbins has to say. I haven't gotten very far into the book yet but I would like to share some excerpts that you may enjoy.

"Notice that salvation is a rescuing of the heart, for when you rescue the heart you rescue the person." (page 21)

"I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart. (Jeremiah 24:7) (page 24)

"To return to God with a new heart is to return to the life we most truly desire. The Christian now wants God more than anything - in spite of his contrary actions, doubts, or false convictions - for he now has a heart for God. He may be choosing old convictions and habits that deny his new desires, yet the externals can no longer dictate the internal realities: He is a new creature with a rescued and redeemed heart. So when we speak of 'salvation,' we must speak of it beyond mere terms of forgiveness. Salvation is a rescuing of the heart, and therefore, the entire person." (page 24)

Aida, I finally responded to a comment you left on my Seed-Faith Giving post. Sorry, if you felt overlooked. I got distracted, and never made it back to reply.

Thanks for your concern, Free Spirit. If my feelings got hurt, it apparently was short lived and there was no permanent damage because I don't even remember commenting on that post. I'm just kidding of course so don't worry. My feelings didn't get hurt. Life gets busy at times so I understand how that could have happened.

I'll go over and check it out.

Aida,

(I left this message over at FBN Forum, but wanted to ensure that you got it here, too!)

Happy Birthday!!! I hope you have fun at the pool (even just to dip your toes in) and all the little ones. Enjoy the pizza too! Blessings to you for another year of joy, growth, hope, peace and Papa's love! Know that you've been a blessing to ME!

Thanks, Amy. One thing I'm finally learning after all of these maaany years to stay flexible. At least this is better than how Joel spent his birthday. (He was at a hospital having a camera put down his throat.) Pizza sounds a whole lot better to me.

Last year was a tremendous year as Daddy and I travelled together into some really exciting adventures. I'm eager to see what he and I will be doing this coming year.

I appreciate the kind words. I'm really enjoying getting to know you better too.

I'm enjoying what I've read so far. I'm moving very slowly but it's good. I think you'd like it.

Hi Aida :-)

Sounds good! I still haven't received my copy. Thought it would come today, but it didn't!

Hope you enjoyed your birthday!!!

Love,

Deb, I'm enjoying what I've read so far. Hopefully, you'll get your copy soon. My came by UPS.

I don't think "enjoy" is a word I would use to describe my birthday. Whenever the chaos over here ends and things are back to normal, I'll share on a blog. Right now, I can't think straight enough to blog.

Just so everyone doesn't worry. I'm okay. We've had our grandchildren with us since Saturday because the air conditioner at their house isn't working. Hopefully, it'll be fixed tomorrow. BTW, I go back to work tomorrow.

Hey, apparently I missed your birthday. Happy belated birthday!! Hope it was fun!

Thank you, Free Spirit.

I haven't been able to do much blogging because of having three grandchildren here most of the day and all nights for three days but I appreciate the birthday wishes.

Aida..I just finished the first 2 chapters today. What I've read so far has really been a comfort to my heart and has definitely resonated with what I've experienced in the IC. I've been underlining a ton of stuff and making comments in the margins like crazy. Great stuff!

Karen, I'm glad you're being encouraged by what you've read. I've read the first three chapters and have really enjoyed it too. I like Jim's style of writing. It's simple to read and, as you said, very encouraging.

Manuela, thank you for the birthday wishes and happy birthday to you too.

This past week-end, we helped take care of my other grandbaby so we've been busy. Hopefully, things will now settle down for a while.

I went back to work last Tuesday and our students returned to school yesterday so my work is now back in full swing.
