Ministry is . . .

"When you minister to someone, it's about helping them and encouraging them. It's not about changing them." - Darin Hufford

"It's about loving them and encouraging them and being their cheerleader in life with no ulterior motive." - Darin Hufford

I've noticed that when my intention or motive has been to change people, it's never worked! And that began leading me to the truth of these quotes here. Why not simply love and encourage people... not so they can change into what I naively think they should change into, but so that they can be who they are.

I love that, Joel. Our desire should be to help people grow in understanding their identity in Christ and being who God created them to be.

Trying to change people is a heavy burden. They never do what we think they should do but by loving them and allowing them to be who they are, we'll experience real peace and joy. It's wonderful to give up that burden and allow God to do it.
